Northwestern, 2006-2007

I'm finally in my second week of school, so 1 week down, 11 weeks to go!

This quarter isn't that bad - taking Chinese History, Chinese Politics, Japanese II and Intermediate Microeconomics. This is the quarter where I will determine my life - whether I want to be an econ major or not, and hence the effect of this choice on my future career opportunities. I just hope that when employers said that "you don't have to be an econ major to be in banking", they were serious! Econ's just so dry here, unlike back in IB, where it was theory + application.

I definitely enjoy my new room down at plex, and am very satisfied with my rice cooker. Teeheehee...at least I can eat rice instead of boring cafeteria food any time! Once I clean up my room (if I ever get to it, harharhar), I'll take pics :)

My fabulous summer peeps - Amaa, Pat, Bonn, Juice, Jam, Ben, Wy, Tim, Kay, Fish, everyone I got a chance to meet up with...
My lovely Waseda peeps - Audrey, Jane, Wei-Ting, Sandy, Mandy, Gigi, Tiffany, Annette,  everyone in my Japanese classes...
I MISS YOU ALL SOOOO MUCH! TAKE CARE!

Home!

I survived! I made it through my freshman year!

Much love to my family, Bonn, Amaa, Pat, Pat, Juice, Jam, Zip, and Gary for celebrating my 19th with me! It was fun staying out all night and going all out on my first night back in HK.

It's sooo good to be back in HK. Sometimes, I still wonder why I chose to go to the U.S. and leave all of this behind. I must've lost my mind somewhere...that might also explain why academically, school sucked so much. Never mind that! Back in HK now, new quarter starts in September, and I have the entire summer to do whatever I want!

Reflection

I can't believe it's already the last week of class here at Northwestern. I've been here for almost a whole academic year now. Evanston and Chicago have grown on me, and I can actually see myself staying here beyond my college years. I've been through so much since I left home in August to come here and start my new life, yet it seems like I only graduated from CIS a few days ago.

Looking back, I don't think I've learnt too much academically, but more than I can ever imagine emotionally. All the stress, the ups and downs, the homesickness and coping with all of it has made me a stronger person. I'm even more independent now, but at times I shock myself when I realize how much freedom I have. This academic year has pushed me out of my comfort zone - I still remember conversations I had with Jeff when I just got back here from Christmas break and how the idea of transferring back to Hong Kong was being contemplated. I'm glad I stuck it out, and I'm so grateful for everyone who supported me through those difficult times! I love you all!

Anyway, I should get back to studying...I have some finals this week
